Club Membership Agreement 2020/21

Skydive Tilstock Freefall Club Ltd (STFCL) is the members club that provides parachute training facilities, instruction and the equipment to jump with at Tilstock Airfield.

To jump at Tilstock Airfield you must become a member of the STFCL, and this document is your membership agreement for the year to 31st March 2021.  STFCL is a non-profit making, sports club, with any surplus made being re-invested to the benefit of the members. STFCL is a company limited by members guarantee of £1 and is Registered in England and Wales as Company Number 9893253.  As a club member, the limit of your liability is £1.

If you are a Student Parachutist, £35 of the fee that you have paid to us for training is the cost of your membership for the year. If you are a novice, intermediate or experienced skydiver, you agree to pay a membership fee of £35 for the year to become a member of the Club.

To become a member of STFCL you need to agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the Club and by the provisions of the British Skydiving’s (BS) Operations Manual, copies are available in the and online at www.britishskydiving.org.uk

CLUB RULES

You must be a member of the British Skydiving. 

All parachuting at STFCL takes place under the rules laid down by the BS Operations Manual and the Club’s Standard Operating Procedures.

All visiting jumpers must receive a full Drop Zone (DZ) briefing and have their equipment, documents and BS membership checked by a Club Instructor. This will include the procedure for manifesting.

All jumpers will receive a ‘Flightline check’ by a qualified person in the DZ Control pen before boarding the aircraft. FAI B Certificate holders will sign the manifest sheet to acknowledge that the check has been completed. In the case of student parachutists, and also FAI A Certificate holder, the checker will sign the manifest sheet.

All persons who will be operating the aircraft door must ensure that they are familiar with its operation. If in doubt, ask.

All jumpers should ensure that they are qualified and competent to undertake the planned descent and that the people they will be jumping with are also qualified and competent.

Food and drink are not allowed in the Packing Shed.

Any questions should be directed to an Instructor or the reception staff.

ADDITIONALLY, AND FOR SAFETY

Parachutists are reminded of the possible consequences of radical turns close to the ground.

Parachutists are reminded of the importance of concentrating on their landings and not becoming distracted by peripheral actions.

Parachutists are reminded that if they are unable immediately to rectify a problem at, during or upon deployment, they should instigate their emergency procedures without delay.

GENERAL RULES

Please park sensibly in the designated area.

Pets are not allowed on the airfield.

Children must be supervised at ALL times. They must not be allowed to sit on the fence or leave the Spectator Area without an adult. 

Please take your rubbish home with you or use the bins provided.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the airfield except the smoking area and NEVER in proximity to aircraft or parachute equipment.

Do not approach the aircraft except under the direct supervision of an instructor or Jumpmaster.

All accidents, injuries and incidents MUST be reported to a member of staff immediately.

Alcohol is not permitted on the airfield until the last aircraft lift of the day has left the ground, and no-one will be permitted to jump if they have consumed any alcohol at all that day. Should a member of staff decide that a person is unfit to jump for any reason, they will not be permitted to jump.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions are always available to review on our website or at the club. When making your booking with STFCL, either directly, over the telephone or online, or through an agent or friend (your agent or friend will be required to accept the Terms and Conditions on your behalf) you will have agreed to and be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions as binding. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact STFCL.

Membership of the BS currently includes public liability insurance (third party) up to the value of £10,000,000, life cover up to £15,000, there is no cover for personal injury.

Flight only services are provided at Tilstock Airfield by Tilstock Aircraft Limited, a separate operator.  Flights are scheduled, and operate every 30 minutes from 09.00, subject to weather and operational issues.

A non-refundable deposit of £70 is required when booking parachute training with STFCL or purchasing a gift voucher. An administration fee of £70 will be charged if you change the date of your booking with less than seven days’ notice (except in the case of bad weather or operational issues at the club).

Cheques are no longer accepted, and payment must be by cash, debit/credit card or bank transfer. The balance due to the STFCL can be paid at any time up to and including the day of the booking.

Once paid, all monies are non-refundable a change of name may be made at the discretion of STFCL.

The training booked must be regarded as an “all-day” event and your check-in time as advised is no indication of the time that you may jump, which may be delayed or rescheduled. If the activity is not able to take place due to weather or operational issues, it is your responsibility to re-schedule your jump within 12 months.

Deposit vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of issue, full-price vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Any vouchers purchased from the club must be redeemed by the quoted expiration date.

If you arrive at the club without all the necessary documentation, you may forfeit your activity and any monies paid. If you are unsure about the paperwork required, please contact us in advance of your booked date.

You understand that, despite the best training and equipment, parachuting in any form holds an element of risk and may result in serious injury or death. You voluntarily accept all risks inherent in the sport and agree for yourself and your representatives to indemnify and hold harmless STFCL and their representatives against any claim or claims whether on your account or from third parties arising out of any accident or incident resulting in any loss or damage including bodily injury or death. If you cannot accept the risks, you should not participate.

Parachutists need a reasonably high standard of physical fitness and must not be overweight in relation to their sex, age and height.

All students will be weighed on arrival at the centre.

Prior to jumping all tandem students be put into a suspended harness where they will have to demonstrate they can adopt the necessary positions for freefall and landing, anyone who cannot complete this satisfactorily will not be allowed to skydive.

Please note that the minimum age for parachuting is 16 and the maximum age is 55 for Static Line Course. Anyone under 18 must have the written consent of a parent or guardian.

Tandem Students – Please read forms Form 115a – Tandem Student Parachutist Medical Information and Declaration and Form 115b – Student Tandem Parachutist Request for Medical Advice. Any tandem students aged 70 or over must have an individual assessment carried out by the Chief Instructor and may require a Form 115B – Student Tandem Doctors Certificate completed by their GP.

If any of the conditions apply to you or a member of your group, please phone the Club (01948-841111) and we will forward the necessary forms.  We must have the completed consent/medical declaration before commencing the Static Line Training Course or Tandem Skydive. Please bring it with you on the day as it may get lost in the post.

The MAXIMUM weight is 14.5 stones (92 kg.) for Static Line Course and 15 stones (95 kg.) for Tandem Skydives. Please study the Club height/weight chart published on our web site as persons who are very unfit or overweight relative to their height will not be accepted for training.  The final decision as to the suitability of any person to jump will be made by the Chief Instructor.  If you have any queries regarding the age and fitness requirements, please contact the club.

CHARITY SKYDIVES

If taking part in a charity skydive, we will, with your permission verbally or written, pass on your contact details to the charity you are fundraising for. They may contact you to help support you with your fundraising efforts.
